Camp Burners Under the Influence (Camp BUI) is a group of people who value connection, participation, and showing up for one another.
We’re a long-standing Burning Man camp known for our front porch, strong sense of community, and traditions like Shot of the Day and Pineapple Upside Down Cake Thursday.
Our camp is grounded in the principles of Burning Man, with an emphasis on radical self-reliance balanced by a commitment to community, shared experience, and contribution.
We’re not just a place to stay — we’re a group of people building something together.
A welcoming, social, and connected camp environment
Shared gathering spaces and daily interaction
Camp-hosted events and traditions
A mix of experienced burners and new participants
A culture that values participation over perfection
Participation is expected — not optional
Willingness to contribute to build, strike, and camp operations
Engagement with camp events and the broader community
Respect for others, shared spaces, and camp culture
We aim to create a space where everyone contributes in a way that supports the whole.
Plug-and-play or fully serviced camping
Passive participation
Full-service meals or ongoing support
A spectator experience
If you’re looking for ease without contribution, this likely isn’t the right fit.
New campers are typically supported by current camp members through a mentor-style approach.
This helps create stronger connections within camp, ensures alignment with expectations, and supports new campers as they integrate into the BUI culture. It also allows the camp to grow in a way that remains balanced and cohesive.
All campmates are expected to align with our Code of Conduct, which reflects our shared values around respect, consent, participation, and accountability.
